Join us for the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) training sessions scheduled for March 18-19, focusing on grant writing and the responsibilities of the Event Team. Important updates include Diana's appointment to UCC Region 9, student demonstrations in November, and insights on managing significant events such as earthquakes and labor strikes. The EOC is being restructured for better community involvement and response strategies. Key positions will be assigned officially for one year, with a focus on creating generalists and a virtual EOC framework.

EOC Event Team • Officially “assigned” to EOC Event Team for 1 year • Activated when requested by PD, FD, others • Will generally be for planned events • Expect to work 12-hour shift (weekends?) • Familiar with position duties; rely on checklists • Positions can “trade” between teams • Can call on any other EOC members for help 8. If full activation required – form the base team until everyone else can gather.
Advantages More responsible with limited resources • Rest of EOC team isn’t called for every event • Not always calling the same person • Provide more experience for team • Create more ‘generalists’ • Allows for implementing a“virtual EOC” http://www.disasterhelp.gov/disastermanagement/
Let’s pretend … Event Team gathered in the EOC (1st day) • Diana, Eben, Phil • Arrive at 10:30 or so • Supporting the ICP located at Lot 2 • Information from ICP sent via radio (Ops) • ICP requests portable toilets, meals, housing
