  5. Challenges:What are we going to do? • Users • Individual: Wait & See or Act? • still use v4 or move to v6?: $200, Switch ISP, change Mail address? – When? How? • Corporate: buy-in from Top- Risk M’gmnt & BCP • Estimate address demand for 3 years, plan Transition: $15K for 2009, $25k for 2010…? • Shortage of IT staff? • Network admin in University: no extra budget!? • Government • all sites with dual capacity - may take 7 years!?

Focus on Public InterestALAC Statement at ICANN LA meeting, Oct 31 • Allocation of remaining IPv4 be “fair & equitable” • Participate open & inclusive policy development • Concern about “anti-competitive market” • Secondary market, recollect unused IPv4 • Transition to IPv6 • Awareness campaign for timely transition • Provide accurate information to avoid media hype • Ensure all “public sites” have v4v6 dual capacity • Developing countries for timely & affordable transition • Timeline to operate transition in timely manner
