  1. Analysis Questions Which solutions were acids and which were bases? Which solution releases the most hydronium ions in water? Which solution releases the most hydroxide ions in water? Why was it necessary to wear your goggles during the entire lab today? Which solutions were closed to neutral on the pH scale? Create a bar graph showing the pH of each different liquid. pHantastic Acids and Bases Objective: Students will identify the pH of five different liquids to determine the strengths of acids and bases. Table Review1 : Label the pH scale below with the terms “strong acid”, “weak acid”,” neutral”, “weak base” and “strong base”. 0 7 14 Table Review 2: Are the liquids that you are testing solutions or heterogeneous mixtures? How do you know? Group Materials: SEPUP Tray 5 mL Borax Solution Hydrion Paper 5 mL Vinegar Paper Towel 5 mLFabuloso Cleaner Goggles 5 mL Mystery Solution Forceps 5 mL Pepsi Methods of Procedure Put on your safety goggles. Leave them on for the entire lab. Place 5 mL of each solution in the SEPUP trays. Use the forceps to put a piece of hydrion paper in a solution. Take the hydrion paper out and record its color in the data table. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for your other liquids. Carefully rinse off your SEPUP tray by dunking it in the cleanup bucket and wipe down your lab table. Complete the data table and answer your analysis questions.
