Ad-hoc An intercultural communication for European Travelers-on site

This project aims to develop an evaluation scheme to overcome challenges of limited users and implementation duration. The evaluation will focus on qualitative data, considering learning objectives, data acquisition, reporting system, and qualitative results. The suitability of language content, didactical method, and front-end technology application will be evaluated. User groups include students, business travelers, university students, visitors to Greece and Italy, and trainees.

  1. Ad-hoc.comAn intercultural communication for European Travelers-on site Evaluation And Monitoring Strategy

  2. Since the project is adopting a self directed learner’s approach special emphasis will be given to the development of the evaluation scheme in order to overcome difficulties associated with the small number of users involved and the limited duration of the implementation of the project

The project’s evaluation will be based mainly on qualitative data, taking into consideration the following four key features: • the exact determination of the learning objectives • The systematic data acquisition during the phases of implementation • The introduction of a methodological reporting system • The combination with the limited sample of the qualitative results

  4. The Ad-hoc.com language tool will be evaluated in three main action lines, with regard to • The suitability of its language content • The proposed didactical and pedagogical method • The use of the front-end technology application

  5. The suitability of the language content It is a matter of major importance for the partnership to ensure that the content has to meet the needs of the specific user groups and that the difficulty level is adjusted to their capabilities

The partnership will develop a systematic evaluation scheme, in order to assess the suitability of the language available through the Ad-hoc.com tool with the aid of measurements and on-field observations. The measurements and the on-field observations will be performed during a series of repeated cycles of testing the tool

  7. The proposed didactical and pedagogical method The main research question is whether and to what extent learning with the Ad-hoc.com tool guides users to the aimed success and language acquisition

  8. The use of the front-end technology application The user-friendliness and fittingnessof the Ad-hoc.com tool for multiple communication situations will be monitored and evaluated in real environments

  9. FORTHnet S.A. will be responsible for the development of a user-friendly environment, by adopting a user-centered approach in the development of the educational platform. The effectiveness of the technological platform of the presented tools has been systematically evaluated with respect to user-friendliness, adaptability, operability, functionality in real conditions.

  10. Evaluation Methodology and user groups The research plan for the project’s evaluation includes questionnaires and on-field observations for the user groups: • Students in the age of 15 to 18 • Business travelers • University students • Visitors to Greece and Italy • Trainees
