  2. But is Ketosis Healthy?

  3. Does Eating Fat Cause Heart Disease

  4. Brain Protective

  5. Excess Stubborn Fat: is a problem of stuck energy in the fat cells!

  6. Conventional Viewpoint • “You have excess fat because you are eating more calories than you are burning. You just need to eat less calories. It’s about manipulating calories”.

  7. The Worst Advice! • Everything in moderation. • Balanced diet.

  8. The 2 Fuel Sources

  9. Blood Sugar MUST be 100 • The body is programmed to do whatever it can to maintain blood sugars at 100! • It works hard to fight down or raise sugar to 100. • At 100, the person is at their best mentally and physically. • 100 means you have exactly 2 teaspoons of sugar in your blood.

  10. Insulin • A hormone that lowers blood sugar by removing sugar from the blood.

  11. Insulin Converts Sugar to Fat and is a ONE-WAY-STREET

  12. Diabetes

  13. Highs & Lows

  14. Sugar (glucose) Storage • Liver: 7 Tablespoons of sugar • Muscles: 21 Tablespoons

  15. Liver • If you eat NO sugar, you become dependant on liver sugar, which will last 72 hours. Then the brain and body will starve and die……unless…….you….

  16. Tab into Fat Reserves

  17. Fat is the most misunderstood thing • Not a cushion • Not an insulator

  18. What is the Purpose?

  19. Survival Gland that Protects Against the STARVATION of…….

  20. SUGAR

  21. Fat is a back up organ for sugar. That’s its BIG PRIMARY PURPOSE!

  22. Your goal should be to….STARVE YOUR BODY OF SUGAR

  23. Mainstream recommendations recommend lowered calories BUT with 65% of total calories being carbohydrates.

  24. Must keep net carbs to 50g • Total carbs minus fiber = net carbs

  25. Protein • Provide raw material for ligaments, muscles, tendons, enzymes, hormones and bone. • We need some, but too much CAN trigger insulin. • This has to be adjusted to how big a person is, their adrenal health, etc. • Generally speaking, 3-6 ounces per meal is good. THIS IS NOT THE ATKINS DIET

  26. Does Eating Fat Make You Fat • Not if insulin is low! • You’re will be doing 2 things: • Using dietary fat as fuel • Using stored fat as fuel THE AMOUNT OF FAT YOU EAT IS ADJUSTED FOR LOSING WEIGHT OR MAINTAINING WEIGHT!

  27. Why do we need fat to burn fat? • Because the body considers stored fat as the last ditch survival fuel and if no dietary fats come in, it will tend to burn up structural body proteins. • If you do low carb, low fat and high protein, you spike insulin and stress kidneys and liver. • If you do low carb, low fat and low protein, you will burn some fat, but also body proteins.

  28. Eating Fat Keeps Body Out of Stress • If we eat healthy fats, the brain will receive signals of no-danger, so it can let go of it’s reserves. Sugar feeds the flight or fight mechanism.

  29. Fat Provides Nutrients • Fat soluble vitamins: • A (grass-fed butter) • D (sun, cod liver oils, grass-fed butter) • E (nuts, seeds, oils) • K2 (grass-fed beef, butter, cheese)

  30. Medium-Chain Fats • Medium-chain Triglycerides (MCT) and monounsaturated fats bypass liver and are used for energy. They are low stress fats. • Grass-fed butter • Coconut butter • Olive oil • Grass-fed cheese • Pasture raised eggs • Grass fed beef, pasture-raised chickens

  31. Ketones • Cleaner fuel • 3x the energy than sugar • Very stable blood sugars • Only is produced when the body is starving of carbohydrates. • Butyric acid feed gut bacteria • Acetic acid feed gut bacteria

  32. Fat Vitamins • Vegetables provide only 5% of fat soluble vitamins. • Animal fats, butter, cod-liver oil, fish, eggs, nuts, organ meats, sun. • K2 is in grass-fed animal products • Butter: has A, D, E, K2, butyric acid (anti-tumor, anti-fungal and the main source of food for gut flora)
