  2. Reproduction What is REPRODUCTION? Creation of a new individual or individuals from previously existing individuals.

  4. Asexual Reproduction Only one organism is needed to reproduce. Offspring is identical to parent (100%)

  5. Paramecium Reproduces ASEXUALLY. Study the picture and describe what appears to be happening. Asexual Reproduction Binary Fission Splitting of a parent cell into two approximately equal parts.

  6. Hydra Reproduces ASEXUALLY. Study the picture and describe what appears to be happening. Asexual Reproduction BUDDING Offspring grows out of the body of the parent.

  9. Sexual Reproduction • Two organism are necessary for reproduction (Mom and Dad) • Male sex cell (sperm) and female sex cell (egg) unite to make a zygote.

  10. Sexual Reproduction • Offspring contains traits from both parents (similar to parents but not identical) • They receive 50 percent of the genes from mom and 50 percent from dad.
