  2. Let’s Talk About UZZA!

  3. Who was Uzzah? Uzza was the son of Abinadab, he was a Livite. Him and His brother Ahio was in charge of take care of the Ark of the Lord. A Servant of the temple in the days of King David. Key Word in His life: Disobedient to God’s commandments.

  6. The Ark of the Covenant

  7. Lessons Learned From Uzzah 2 Samuel 6:3-7

  8. When God Gives Man A Pattern, God Expects Man to Follow That Pattern • God gave Israel a pattern for the ark • Specific instruction given (Numb 4:1-15) • Ark not transported according to pattern • Uzzah punished for disobedience • Ignored the divinely appointed order • David learns a valuable lesson (1 Chron 15:2-13) • All brethren need to learn from Uzzah • Isaiah 1:12; Hebrews 8:5; Exodus 25:40

  9. Sins Committed with Good Intentions Are Still Punishable by God • Many believe wrongly • Think that “deeds committed with a good, honest, and sincere heart do not jeopardize a man’s soul” • Uzzah had good intentions! • Uzzah did NOT hearken to God’s exact words (Numbers 4:15) • Paul’s letter to the Romans: • Commended their zeal for God but condemned them for not practicing righteousness • Romans 10:1-4

  10. Failure to Follow God’s Divine Patter is a Sign of Irreverence • Must show reverence for God • One who rushes to speak or act without consulting the will of God shows disrespect for God’s work in revelation The preparations of the heart belong to man, But the answer of the tongue is from the LORD. All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, But the LORD weighs the spirits. Commit your works to the LORD, And your thoughts will be established. (Prov 16:1-3)

  11. The Counsel of Great Men Does Not Constitute Authority from God • David conferred with prominent men “Then David consulted with the captains of thousands and hundreds, and with every leader. And David said to all the assembly of Israel, "If it seems good to you, and if it is of the LORD our God, let us send out to our brethren everywhere who are left in all the land of Israel, and with them to the priests and Levites who are in their cities and their common-lands, that they may gather together to us; and let us bring the ark of our God back to us, for we have not inquired at it since the days of Saul. Then all the assembly said that they would do so, for the thing was right in the eyes of all the people.” (1 Chronicles 13:1-4)

  12. Don’t Be Surprised At The JUDGMENT! • Uzzah had his chance to listen and obey God • Don’t be an Uzzah – having people talking for many years about your good intentions, except that you DID NOT do what God commanded! • Obey God’s pattern that has been given to us HOLY BIBLE Matthew 7:21
