  1. POD Basic Advanced Find the area of the following figures Find the surface area of the following figure A = πr2 A = 3.14 × 2cm2 A = 3.14 × 4cm2 A = 12.56 cm2 A =b × h A =5cm × 11cm A = 55cm2 A = ½ × b × h A = ½ × 3cm × 4cm A = ½ × 12cm2 A = 6cm2 A =b × h A =3cm × 11cm A = 33cm2 A = ½ × b × h A = ½ × 5cm × 6cm A = ½ × 30cm2 A = 15cm2 A =b × h A =4cm × 11cm A = 44cm2 SA = 144 cm2

  2. Volume of Prisms The volume of a three-dimensional figure is the measure of the space it occupies. It is measured in cubic units such as: cubic centimeters- cm3 cubic inches- in3

  3. The volume of a rectangular prism is found by multiplying the length, width, and height. V = lwh or Bh Ex: centimeters V = lwh V = 12cm × 6cm × 5cm V = 360cm3

  4. The volume of a triangular prism is found by multiplying the area of the base times the height. V = Bh Ex: Area of the base B= ½ × b × h V= B × h B= ½ × 12 cm × 16cm V= 96cm2 × 10cm B= 96cm2 V= 960cm3

  5. Whiteboard time: Which lunch box holds more food? 3 cm 5 cm 8 cm 7 cm 12 cm 10 cm V = lwh V = lwh V = 12cm × 8cm × 3cm V = 10cm × 7cm × 5cm V =288cm3 V = 350cm3

  6. Whiteboard time: How much chocolate is in the Toblerone? 3in 10in 2in B = ½ × b × h B = ½ × 2in × 3in V = B × h B = 3in2 V = 3 in2 × 10in V = 30in3
