Balancing Urban and Rural Development for Effective Poverty Reduction Strategies
The interconnectedness of urban and rural economies is crucial for pro-poor growth. This paper discusses the findings from World Bank reports emphasizing both agricultural and urban development as key drivers of economic growth. By analyzing the farm-nonfarm and urban-rural linkages, we propose that targeted investments in both sectors, influenced by initial population densities and infrastructure, are essential for sustainable development. Policymakers must recognize the synergies between urban and rural areas to effectively reduce poverty and promote economic development.
