  1. Some QPS HWC LabView applications (from RADE point of view) Zinour Charifoulline, CERN-TE-MPE & INR RAS, Moscow • QPS Individual System Test (QPS-IST) for the main circuits; • Magnet Splice Evaluation Snapshots Analysis for the main circuits; • 600A Circuits: PCC.5 – QPS Semi-Automatic Analysis; RADE Workshop, ZCh

  2. QPS Individual System Test (QPS-IST) for the main circuits (dipole circuit as example) Intervention instruction! Office team • LHC equipment to test: • 154 quench detectors; • 4x154 quench heaters; Trigger all quench detectors or re-trigger problematic ones • Field Team in the tunnel: • switching on all QH Power Supplies; • waiting feedback for intervention; PM Data storage (SDDS) Logging DB • Objectives of “mass” Analysis: • read all PM-data, check completeness; • special QPS-dedicated analysis: charge and discharge • voltages, time constants, quench detection levels and delays, etc...; • create output report; QPS-IST PM data Analysis RADE Workshop, ZCh

  3. QPS Individual System Test (QPS-IST) for the main circuits (dipole circuit as example) • Objectives of Analysis • read all PM-data, check completeness; • special QPS-dedicated analysis: charge and discharge • voltages, time constants, quench detection levels and delays, etc...; • create output report; • “bad heaters” detection; Office team Triggering all at once or retriggering problematic ones • LHC equipment to test: • 154 quench detectors; • 4x154 quench heaters; • Field Team in the tunnel: • switching on all QH Power Supplies; • waiting feedback for intervention; PM Data storage (SDDS) Logging DB • - in 2008 HWC-campaign custom SDDS-library was used (ASCII); • since 2009 PM reading was switched to RADE SDDS-library (binary); • Comments: reading is faster, but not checked yet in real HWC. QPS-IST PM data Analysis Manual alternative: Very powerful and reliable PM-browser (RADE), but analyzing one by one over 154 PM-files!!! RADE Workshop, ZCh

  4. RADE Workshop, ZCh

  5. -Analysis takes 1-2 minute ; - It really depends on PM-data reading speed, and time for the Report RADE Workshop, ZCh

  6. RADE Workshop, ZCh

  7. Discharge curves in log-scale Threshold Quench detection signal RADE Workshop, ZCh

  8. Power Supply problem or Broken Heater!!! Needs to be checked before firing again RADE Workshop, ZCh

  9. Snapshot Analysis for the main circuits • Originally it was developed as a minor modification of QPS-IST Analysis : • Analysis part is simpler –> extracting just one signal from PM-file; • but much more PM data required, many steps in current loads; • and additional post processing which requires data from logging DB; • Finally, it worked very well. Two bad splices were found and confirmed. • Now new version of Snapshot Analysis Software is developing which supposed • to be integrated to the HWC procedures: • The snapshots will be triggered from HWC Sequencer, not manually anymore; • Analysis Software will be integrated with the PM Event Analyzer (RADE!!!) RADE Workshop, ZCh

  10. QPS Snapshots Event (to be added) Snap Analysis (to be added) RADE Workshop, ZCh

  11. Current versus Time & Snapshots Current Time Average of U_QS0 versus Current (20x154 PM files) Voltage Current RADE Workshop, ZCh

  12. Input from PM Event Analyzer (RADE): • total list of PM-data; • last snapshot list; • board A, board B information; • etc … (to be fixed with Odd!) Current from loggingDB using JAPC (RADE) RADE Workshop, ZCh

  13. Commissioning Threshold (as ex) Resistance Magnet RADE Workshop, ZCh

  14. RADE Workshop, ZCh

  15. 600A Circuits: PCC.5 – QPS Semi-Automatic Analysis - already integrated with PM Event Analyzer (RADE); - has been used in 2008 HWC campaign; - almost ready to be automatic: + PM Data check to be added; + Criteria need to be fixed; Event: RCD.A12B1:PCC.5 RADE Workshop, ZCh

  16. RADE Workshop, ZCh

  17. RADE Workshop, ZCh

  18. RADE Workshop, ZCh
