  3. Russia Somalia relations The Somalia pirates need to be cracked down to soften the relationship between Russia and Somalia because of the recent incident. Somalia’ s Western-backed government says it still waiting for an apology from Russian commandos set adrift captured Somali pirates hundreds of kilometers off the coast of Yemen with no navigation equipment. 4P1 MUN Delegation of Russia

  4. Analysis of the situation Russia seriously want to see the crackdown of the Somali pirates. The latest seizure of a Saudi oil tanker by Somali pirates presents an opportunity to improve relations between Russia and NATO. Russia's ambassador to NATO, Dimitry Rogozin, has called for an international ground military operation to better combat rampant piracy in the region. "It's up to the European Union, NATO and others to launch a coastal land operation to eliminate the pirates…naval action alone will not be enough to liquidate the threat of piracy."  Rogozin is right: there are limits to providing armed escorts or security teams for merchant ships.  4P1 MUN Delegation of Russia
