Neil’s feelings: angry/humiliated… • Setting – hadn’t appreciated that war had any impact on them – they were not Jews being “dragged to the concentration camp” BUT • “it was necessary now for him to fight back against every injustice inflicted on him, and especially on his brother.”
Roderick’s greeting = pleasant/surprised LRC • Neil’s reaction = surprised/embarrassed that he had been noticed. His assumption was “they’ll not even notice us.”
