Transport for London and the Historical Model Railway Society:Standards for Discovery TfL Corporate Archives and the Historical Model Railway Society became aware of each other and the fact that there were drawings of significant relevance to TfL within the HMRS holdings . Each recognised the need for these drawings to be reaching a wider audience but had problems and concerns over how to do this using purely their own resources. TFL had:HMRS had: Solution: Process: HMRS Provide Metadata (Technical Expertise) – differences in number of fields, field names, etc TfL Identify Metatdata of Use to Wider Audience (Professional Knowledge) – HMRS specific metadata, e.g. Collection ID, removed TfL Standardise Metadata using ISAD(G) – renaming fields, e.g. Original Company becomes CreatorName; amalgamating fields, e.g. Railway Company, Subject Type, Drawing Type amalgamated to become Title; adding in ISAD(G) terms, e.g. RefNo, Level Inclusion in TfL Catalogue (Professional Cataloguing, Software, Dissemination) – also by default included in any portal TfL Archives use
