  3.  Your task • Use p.12-13 tocomplete a table showing similarities & differences between the aims & methods of the two main political groups in Germany after WWI Spartacist Social Democrats

  8.  Your task • Discuss the reasons why the Spartacist Uprising failed with your partner. Make a list of reasons in your notes. Spartacists at the government newspaper offices. The bundles are reels of paper for the newspapers

Reasons for failure • Poorly organised • Spartacists failed to capture many buildings in Berlin • Lacked support of other left-wing groups • Govt had support of Friekorps • Spartacist leaders murdered – party lack direction One of the armoured vehicles used by the Freikorps to put down the Spartacist Uprising

  10.  Your task • You know who killed Rosa Luxemburg, but was anyone else to blame? Read through sources 11-16 and use your own knowledge to note down who else might be to blame.

  11.  Writing task • Imagine you are a police detective. You have been given the job of writing up the murder case and suggesting who was to blame for R.L.’s death. Include the following in your report: • Who were the Spartacists • The political situation in Germany after WWI • The events of January 1919 • The final moments of R.L.’s life • Evidence of those who might be to blame
