Objectives • 4.2.1 The objectives of the ARC Future Fellowships scheme are to: a. attract and retain outstanding mid-career researchers; b. build collaboration across industry and/or research institutions and/or disciplines; c. support research in national priorities across all disciplines that will result in economic, environmental, social, health or cultural benefits for Australia; and d. strengthen Australia’s research capacity by supporting innovative, internationally competitive research. Who can apply? • Mid career 5-15 years post PhD • on or between 26 November 1993 and 26 November 2003 • 3 levels of salary • Select this based on experience and expertise (see funding rules 6.5.4); • Assessed and ranked against same category. Application limits • Limit applies to number of proposals submitted by each applicant: • One application allowed per person each round; • Max 2 applications per person between 2009 and 2013; • If successful, you cannot apply for another Future Fellowship. Funding: what do I get? • Funding is for: • Your salary • $50K infrastructure, or basic non salary related costs, to support your project. • Funding is not for: • Postdoc or tech salaries • Student stipends Research Office CMBE and CoPS “Understanding ARC Future Fellowships 2009”

Answering selection criteria: strategic alignment Key Points - Strategic Statement • How are you and your Proposal aligned with existing and/or emerging research strengths of ANU? • This should be consistent with the List of Research Strengths. • How do you align with and/or complement the staffing profile of ANU. • If you have a current position, how will this enhance her/his opportunities at the organisation; OR • If you are a non-current or fixed-term employee, plans for integration into the ongoing activities of the organisation at the end of the fellowship • How will the $50,000 per annum infrastructure be used?
