  5. TRANSPIR Acronym: TRANSportation through the PYRenees TRANSPIR Research Topics: General description: Environmental Issues on Transportation and Logistics Specific description: Routing Optimization with Environmental Criteria Costs Studies in the Internalization of Transport Externalities. Policies of the EuropeanUnion related to the environmental issues of transportation. Construction of mathematical algorithms to optimize routes in road transportation. Environmental policies in real transportation companies. Environmental issues in problems related to Renewable Energies. 2. Presentation of the TRANSPIR Research Group 5

  6. TRANSPIR Main Characteristics: The main characteristic of TRANSPIR is its multidisciplinarity. It was founded by the UPNA professors Javier Faulin (Statistics and OR), Fernando Lera (Economics) and Jesús M. Pintor (Mechanical Engineering) with the purpose of developing a research team having different backgrounds, outlooks and perspectives. TRANSPIR began its research activities in 2001-2002 when the founders worked together with an environmental project funded by the Government of Navarre about Renewable Energies TRANSPIR Members- Decade 2001-2012: Javier Faulin (Statistics and OR) Fernando Lera (Economics) Jesús M. Pintor (Mechanical Engineering) Mercedes Sánchez (Agrarian and Business Science) Jonathan Calleja (Business Science) Jorge San Miguel (Logistics and Mechanical Engineering) Esteban de Paz (Agrarian Engineering) Iñaki Torres and Miguel A. Llorente (Computer Engineering) Natalia López-Mosquera (Business Science) Sergio Úbeda, Jose M. Gabirondo, Víctor Oscáriz, David Monge (Industrial Engineering) Justo García, Aitor Vidaurre (Industrial Engineering) 2. Presentation of the TRANSPIR Research Group 6
