  1. Holy Spirit Births Global Mission Acts 13-14

  2. “Someone asked, Will the heathen who have never heard the Gospel be saved? It is more a question with me whether we — who have the Gospel and fail to give it to those who have not — can be saved.” ~ Spurgeon.

  4. Larry Walters, 1977 "Well, you can't just sit there." -Larry Walters

  5. When we embrace and treasure the gospel the “missional effects” are astonishing “Why you should resist the gospel”

  6. Holy Spirit Births Global Mission Acts 13-14

  7. Acts 13:1 Now there were in the church at Antioch prophets and teachers, Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger,* Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen a lifelong friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul.

  8. Barnabas – A Jew from the island Cyprus • Simeon - The ethnic minority (possibly carried Christ's cross) • Lucius of Cyrene -(North Africa) evangelist • Manaen - foster brother of Herod the Tetrarch - "Upper Class Jerk” • Apostle Paul - TheAcademic • JESUS UNITES HEARTS!!

  9. John 13:35 • ”By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” • Our marriages should be the richest • Our friendships should be the deepest • Our reputations should be the finest • *Our outreach should be passionate* • You should embrace and treasure the gospel because the gospel rips your heart out

  10. Acts 13:2-3 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”  Then after fasting and praying they laid their hands on them and sent them off.

  11. Couple major points on the Holy Spirit leading on Mission • He progressively leads • He will use both you and the rest of the body. • It may be in a way or time you don’t expect • You should embrace and treasure the gospel because the gospel wrecks your 30 year plan

  12. Stories along the way…(Acts 13:12 / 42 / 14:2-3 / 14:19) • The Procunsul (on Cyprus) believed and was astonished at the teaching of the Lord • The people (from Antioch) begged that these things might be told them…the next Sabbath almost the whole city gathered to hear the Word of the Lord. • (In Iconium) a great number of both Jews and Greeks believed • (At Lystra) they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city..but..the next day he went on with Barnabs to Derbe

  13. Great ironic elements of the gospel: “All you need is need; all you need is nothing.” • You should embrace and treasure the gospel because the gospel strips you of self importance (and gives you something much better!)

  14. Embrace and Treasure the Gospel for it’s “missional” effects • Rips out our hearts • Wrecks our 30 year plan • Strips us of self importance • (AND GRANTS LIFE!!!)
