  8. Haggai 1:1 In the second year of Darius the king, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came by the prophet Haggai to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, saying,

  9. Haggai 1:2 Thus says the LORD of hosts, “This people says, ‘The time has not come, even the time for the house of the LORD to be rebuilt.’”

  10. Haggai 1:3-5 Then the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet, saying, 4 “Is it time for you yourselves to dwell in your paneled houses while this house lies desolate? 5 Now therefore, thus says the LORD of hosts, ‘Consider your ways!’” A Problem with Priorities

  11. Haggai 1:6 You have sown much, but harvest little; you eat, but there is not enough to be satisfied; you drink, but there is not enough to become drunk; you put on clothing, but no one is warm enough; and he who earns, earns wages to put into a purse with holes. Dissatisfaction

  12. Haggai 1:7-8 Thus says the LORD of hosts, “Consider your ways! 8 Go up to the mountains, bring wood and rebuild the temple, that I may be pleased with it and be glorified,” says the LORD.

  13. Haggai 1:9 “You look for much, but behold, it comes to little; when you bring it home, I blow it away. Why?” declares the LORD of hosts, “Because of My house which lies desolate, while each of you runs to his own house.”

  14. Haggai 1:10-11 “Therefore, because of you the sky has withheld its dew and the earth has withheld its produce. 11 I called for a drought on the land, on the mountains, on the grain, on the new wine, on the oil, on what the ground produces, on men, on cattle, and on all the labor of your hands.”

  15. 2:1-9 2:10-19 2:20-23 2nd Sermon 3rd Sermon 1:1-15 Question: How can your houses be paneled while God’s house lies desolate? 1st Sermon Response: People came and worked

  16. Haggai 1:14-15 So the LORD stirred up the spirit of Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua the son of Jehozadak, the high priest, and the spirit of all the remnant of the people; and they came and worked on the house of the LORD of hosts, their God, 15 on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month in the second year of Darius the king.

  17. The Second Sermon Question 2:1 2:7 2:9 Twofold Response On the twenty-first of the seventh month, the word of the LORD came by Haggai the prophet saying, (Haggai 2:1). How does this Temple compare with the former Temple?

  18. The Second Sermon Question 2:1 2:7 2:9 Twofold Response “Speak now to Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua the son of Jeho-zadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people saying,” (Haggai 2:2). How does this Temple compare with the former Temple?

  19. The Second Sermon Question 2:1 2:7 2:9 Twofold Response “Who is left among you who saw this temple in its former glory? And how do you see it now? Does it not seem to you like nothing in comparison?” (Haggai 2:3). How does this Temple compare with the former Temple?

  20. The Second Sermon Question 2:1 2:7 2:9 Twofold Response The nations will come and I will fill this house with glory. The latter glory of this house will be greater than the former. How does this Temple compare with the former Temple?

  21. 2:1-9 2:10-19 2:20-23 2nd Sermon 3rd Sermon Closing words to Zerubbabel I will make you like a signet ring 1:1-15 Question: How can your houses be paneled while God’s house lies desolate? Question: How does this temple compare with the former temple? Question: Does the unclean produce clean? 1st Sermon Response: People came and worked Response: Latter glory will be greater than the former Response: A cleansing judgment & future blessings

  22. Haggai 2:20-21 Then the word of the LORD came a second time to Haggai on the twenty-fourth day of the month saying, 21 “Speak to Zerubbabel governor of Judah saying, ‘I am going to shake the heavens and the earth.’”

  23. Haggai 2:22 “And I will overthrow the thrones of kingdoms and destroy the power of the kingdoms of the nations; and I will overthrow the chariots and their riders, and the horses and their riders will go down, everyone by the sword of another.”

  24. Haggai 2:23 On that day,’ declares the LORD of hosts, ‘I will take you, Zerubbabel, son of Shealtiel, My servant,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will make you like a signet ring, for I have chosen you,’” declares the LORD of hosts

  25. Jeremiah 22:24-25 “As I live,” declares the LORD, “even though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were a signet ring on My right hand, yet I would pull you off; 25 and I shall give you over into the hand of those who are seeking your life, yes, into the hand of those whom you dread, even into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.”

  30. Zechariah 1:8 I saw at night, and behold, a man was riding on a red horse, and he was standing among the myrtle trees which were in the ravine, with red, sorrel, and white horses behind him.

  31. Zechariah 1:9 Then I said, “My lord, what are these?” And the angel who was speaking with me said to me, “I will show you what these are.”

  32. Zechariah 1:10-11 And the man who was standing among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those whom the LORD has sent to patrol the earth.” So they answered the angel of the LORD who was standing among the myrtle trees, and said, “We have patrolled the earth, and behold, all the earth is peaceful and quiet.”

  34. Zechariah 3:1 Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him. !j'F'h Anj.fil. HaSatan LeSitnu

  35. Zechariah 3:2 And the LORD said to Satan, “The LORD rebuke you, Satan! Indeed, the LORD who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is this not a brand plucked from the fire?”

  36. Zechariah 3:3 Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments and standing before the angel.

  37. Zechariah 3:4 And he spoke and said to those who were standing before him saying, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” Again he said to him, “See, I have taken your iniquity away from you and will clothe you with festal robes.”

  38. “Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” 8 It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. (Revelation 19:7-8).

  39. Isaiah 4:2 In that day the Branch of the LORD will be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth will be the pride and the adornment of the survivors of Israel. Zechariah 3:8 Now listen, Joshua the high priest, you and your friends who are sitting in front of you-- indeed they are men who are a symbol, for behold, I am going to bring in My servant the Branch.

  40. “Behold, the days are coming,” declares the LORD, “When I will raise up for David a righteous Branch; And He will reign as king and act wisely And do justice and righteousness in the land.6 In His days Judah will be saved, And Israel will dwell securely; And this is His name by which He will be called, ‘The LORD our righteousness.’” (Jeremiah 23:5-6).

  41. Zechariah 3:9-10 “For behold, the stone that I have set before Joshua; on one stone are seven eyes. Behold, I will engrave an inscription on it,” declares the LORD of hosts, “and I will remove the iniquity of that land in one day. 10 In that day," declares the LORD of hosts, "every one of you will invite his neighbor to sit under his vine and under his fig tree.”

  42. Zechariah 4:1 Then the angel who was speaking with me returned and roused me, as a man who is awakened from his sleep.

  43. Zechariah 4:2-3 He said to me, “What do you see?” And I said, “I see, and behold, a lamp-stand all of gold with its bowl on the top of it, and its seven lamps on it with seven spouts belonging to each of the lamps which are on the top of it; 3 also two olive trees by it, one on the right side of the bowl and the other on its left side.”

  44. Zechariah 4:4-5 Then I answered and said to the angel who was speaking with me saying, "What are these, my lord?" 5 So the angel who was speaking with me answered and said to me, “Do you not know what these are?” And I said, “No, my lord.”

  45. Zechariah 4:6-7 Then he answered and said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts. 7 What are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you will become a plain; and he will bring forth the top stone with shouts of “Grace, grace to it!”’”

  46. Zechariah 4:8-9 Also the word of the LORD came to me saying, 9 “The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation of this house, and his hands will finish it. Then you will know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.”

  47. Zechariah 4:10 For who has despised the day of small things? But these seven will be glad when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel-- these are the eyes of the LORD which range to and fro throughout the earth.

  48. Zechariah 4:11 Then I answered and said to him, “What are these two olive trees on the right of the lampstand and on its left?”

  49. Zechariah 4:12 And I answered the second time and said to him, “What are the two olive branches which are beside the two golden pipes, which empty the golden oil from themselves?”
