Budget Cuts and Declining Academic Quality • Fewer Electives [intermediate and upper-level courses] • Academic departments are forced to cut electives and increase the number of introductory courses • This means that there will be fewer courses available to graduate • Larger Classes • To maintain their “Low-Cost” goals, the administration will raise class size • Classes in Academic Forum and other locations will grow • In AF 101, HIS 026 has 120 students “allocated” to it • Room capacity is 183 seats

  7. Lower Graduation Rates Where will you be in four years? During the 2007-2008 school year, Kutztown University’s overall four-year graduation rate was: 30.08% During the 2007-2008 school year, Kutztown University’s six-year graduation rate was: 54.6% For African-American students in 2007-2008, the four-year graduation rate was: 15.17% For Hispanic students in 2007-2008, the four-year graduation rate was 21.35% Source: Kutztown University, System Accountability/Performance Measures, 2008, slide 11.
