  3. Parts of Letter • Return address • Address of person writing letter • Date • Correct format: January 23, 2014 • Letter address • Address of person you are writing to – delivery address • Include personal title (Miss, Mrs., Ms., or Mr.) or professional title (Dr., Lt., Senator)

  4. Parts of Letter, cont. • Salutation • Greeting – Dear . . . • Body • Main information of letter • Complimentary Closing • Farewell – Examples • Sincerely • Sincerely yours • Respectfully yours • DS below Body

Parts of Letter, cont. • Name of writer • Quadruple Space (QS) or 4 enters if on NO Spacing after Complimentary Closing • This large space is so you sign your name • Reference initials • If someone other than you keys the letter, that person keys their initials • Lowercase • No punctuation • DS after writer’s name

  6. Parts of Letter, cont. • Attachment/Enclosures • If another document is attached to the letter • DS after writer’s name or Reference initials
