  1. What is Voc Rehab? Employment Focused Transition Services Voc Rehab is short for Vocational Rehabilitation, which is a confusing name for people who want to help you work.

  2. There are many different types of work, and many different abilities needed to do the work.

  4. Removing barriers • Employment services and supports can remove barriers so you can reach your goal Goal ----------------------------------------------------------------------You

  5. Barriers to employment • Barriers are obstacles that can get in your way making it hard for you to get where you want to go or do what you want to do • Barriers to employment can be caused by a disability and could make it hard to get or keep a job you want

  6. We believe that people with disabilities… • Are motivated to work • Are capable, talented, and can perform on par with their peers • Are unique and have different needs and goals • Deserve the opportunity to achieve their potential • Have skills that are needed in the world!

  7. VR can help you help yourself • Everybody needs help at some point in their life, not everybody seeks the help they need Self Advocacy • Voc Rehab can help you better understand how barriers could affect you and what services or activities are available to help you overcome them in order to reach your work goal • While planning is done with your VR counselor, it is up to you to do your part to once the plan is in place

  9. What happens when you sign up? Talk about things like… • What type of job you want • What barriers your disability causes • What resources are available to help remove those barriers • Steps needed to reach your goal of going to work • Create and follow a step-by-step plan to reach your employment goals.

  10. What is expected of you? • Show up to meetings and appointments, • Work with your VR counselor, but take lead role in planning and completing steps • Want to get a job

  11. Education & Employment Plans • Student + IEP = Graduation • Student + IPE = Employment
