  2. A short introduction Tennis,a graceful and competitive sport,as the world’s 2nd most common ball game nowadays,was bred in France,born in England,widely performed and reached a peak in the USA,and finally got prevalent worldwide.

  3. History of Tennis In the 12th-13th cencury,to get rid of the monotonous life, Christian Monks hit a ball using either their hands or a stick against the wall.It was called Jeu de paummen(掌球戏).

  4. Then,the game was introduced into the French palace and soon got popular in the royals.So it was also called royal tennis(court tennis,real tennis). The name “Tennis” comes from the French word “Tennez”(用手丢来丢去).

  5. In 1873, Winfield,a British,moved this ancient game onto the outdoor lawn(lawn tennis,outdoor tennis). Therefore,Winfield was regarded as the founder of modern tennis.
