  4. What is impact? Impact is about changes in attitude, behaviour, skills, knowledge or situation of target audience brought be a project.

  5. What is library impact? Library impact is a resultof using library services, the influence the use had, and its significance to the user.

  6. What is impact assessment? If a Project says it will change the lives of a certain target group, how does it proveit actually did?

  7. Why doing this? • Impact assessment is the gathering of meaningful data that that informs, improves or confirms. • It is a tool for: • Management decisions • Accountability for your resources • Library advocacy

  8. What do we mean by results? • We did the XXX toachieve the XXX results

  9. What and how we will measure? • Common results – what EIFL-PLIP is aiming to achieve together with you? • Project specific results – what specific changes your service brings to your specific target group? • Resultsmapand data collection plan

  10. Results map • Result 1: Introduction of new services that make use of technology: • List of services that were introduced and data on how they were used by your target group

  11. Results map • Result 2: Increase in library visibility: • Number of library related publications, presentations and mentions by different groups: media, authorities & other libraries

  12. Results map • Result 3: Increase of library visitors: • increase in weekly library use • Number of new library users BASELINE!

  13. Results map • Result 4: Library reaches out to the members of the community that were previously underserved: • Number of new library users from your target group BASELINE!

  14. Results map • Result 5: Commitment by authorities and community to new library services: • Support demonstrating commitments by authorities or community in relation to the service

  16. Results map • Result 7: Increased social and economic benefits to individuals and communities: • Evidence of impact (perceived changes) in the lives of target group users INDIVIDUAL TO EACH PROJECT!

  17. Results map • Result 8: Public library is placed in the center of community life: - Evidence of changed perceptions of community leaders, service users, partners and librariansabout the library’s role in the community

  18. Team work • Review Results Map and write down all your questions and comments • For Result 7 define up to 3 benefits (changes) that your project will bring to your target group/s (Hint: attitude, knowledge, skills, behaviour, life situation)
