  14. TVG450 – product updates and roadmap (May 2013) What’s new in release 3.6.10 More flexibility in selecting time base for decoder output SDI Use local reference (genlock), incoming IP stream, or local free-running clock IP refsync is good for preventing frame skip/repeat in 24/7 apps (playout-to-headend) RTP-based hitless switching solution (released in 3.4.4) Hitless switching between RTP packets transmitted on two diverse paths Multiple output IP streams from encoder (smallcast) – included free-of-charge IP diversity reception on decoder - licensed option “SW: TVG450-IDR” Hardware option for additional Ethernet interfaces (“TVG450-XGE”) Needed for hitless switching solution if customers requires dedicated MGT port Dual GE ports for video over IP (EL or SFP) + dedicated GE for control Nevion Confidential
  15. Hitless switching with IP diversity reception Encoder transmits identical RTP streams on two IP links Decoder receives packets from main and redundant link Enables hitless/seamless switching on packet loss and link failures Allows broadcasters to utilize less expensive unprotected circuits and still achieve high availability contribution services Nevion Confidential
  16. TVG450 – product updates and roadmap (June 2013) What’s new in release 3.8.X (coming end of June) DHCP support to automatically obtain an IP address at a new network location DNS support to register a host name when obtaining an IP address Allows web GUI access via a domain name such as http://hostname.company.net Contribution links can now be setup using host names instead of IP addresses More details on the next pages Roadmap: 3G-SDI (Level A, single stream) with 1080p 50/59.94 Hz encoding/decoding Implemented and in testing Nevion Confidential
  17. Today: TVG450 uses static IP address configuration IP address of Ethernet LAN/VLAN interface is configured manually today CLI via USB maintenance port “Detect”: software application for Windows – detect/configures units on same LAN Sender configuration Destination unicast or multicast IPv4 address UDP port number Receiver configuration UDP port number Optional IPv4 multicast address Optional IPv4 source address (for source-specific multicast) Nevion Confidential
  18. Today:Static IP configuration TVG450 Encoder Operator re-assigns IP address (1) Encoder transmits to static IP address TVG450 Decoder Operator assigns static IP address Decoder IP address does not change Stadium 1 Transmit to 10.0.0.100 Studio TVG450 Decoder 10.1.0.50 10.0.0.100 IP Operator 1 10.1.0.51 10.0.0.101 10.0.0.102 10.0.0.103 Stadium N Connect 10.2.0.50 10.2.0.51 Management system (e.g. Connect 3) IP address is used for device ID Serial number is retrieved from unit configuration Connect checks serial numbers – must be unique! 19. Simplifying operations in live contribution Ethernet links are now widely used in live contribution applications Outside Broadcast: flight-case or fixed installations in OB trucks/vans IP addresses of transport equipment have to be reconfigured prior to events DNS/DHCP support on Encoders/Decoders would Simplify configuration and allow faster connection setup Enable plug-and-play IP contribution when connectivity is established Nevion Confidential
  20. Step 1: DHCP for GUI access + transmission to static IP addresses TVG450 Encoder/Decoder DHCP used for obtaining IP address DNS registration of host name (included in DHCP request) Encoder transmits to static IP address, as it is done today Limitation: the decoder’s IP address can not change Can be statically configured OR configured using DHCP reservation based on unit’s MAC address Management system – new requirements Host name used for device ID IP address resolved from DNS Management system will give alarm if DNS name is not resolved to an IP address Serial number is retrieved from unit configuration Connection setup/teardown done with static IP addresses – as before Nevion Confidential
  21.
