Introduction • The tutorials are aimed at users wishing to use the grid to run their applications • Mornings - presentations (slides on the web) • Afternoons - hands-on exercises (paper handouts and on the web) • Pre-requisites for participants: • No prior knowledge is required for the presentations. • Basic knowledge of Linux user environment (shells, editor, etc.) is necessary to complete the exercises. • Using a certificate for the grid is part of the tutorial (reduced validity) • Acronyms on posters • Ask questions any time

Logistics • Coffee (and tea) are free and are served in the NIKHEF hall • Lunch is at your own expenses and is served in the WTCW restaurant • At the end of the second day: cheese & wine (computer group invited) • For any help: secretariat at this floor behind the library • For any tutorial information see www.dutchgrid.nl • For any nikhef information www.nikhef.nl

  5. Hands-on Exercises • These work stations are connected to the nikhef network • Student accounts on those machines available • You will connect to User Interface machine to submit your jobs • This requires a user account on the UI machine and a user certificate to use grid resources • You will receive handouts containing details on the exercises • Take your time to read until you get to the exercises • You work at your own pace • Ask help in case you have questions or run into problem
