  2. DEFINICIÓN La PEDICULOSIS es la infestación del ser humano por un parásito (Pediculus humanus), comúnmente llamado “piojo”. SÍNTOMAS Picazón en el cuero cabelludo especialmente detrás de las orejas y en la nuca. QUÉ PRODUCE Lesiones por rascado e infecciones sobreagregadas.

  3. FORMAS DE CONTAGIO Directo: de persona a persona Indirecto: objetos contaminados

  4. La PEDICULOSIS afecta principalmente a los niños en edad escolar.

  5. PREVENCIÓN En el hombre En el medio ambiente

  6. TRATAMIENTO • Para eliminarlos: Se utilizan insecticidas de contacto que producen la muerte del piojo. • Recordar: Consultar al médico. • Recomendaciones • Actuar con inmediatez y, sobre todo, seguir el tratamiento indicado. • Los niños que no tengan piojos no se tienen que tratar. • Es necesario que los padres vigilen la posible aparición de los huevos. • Los familiares afectados se tratarán también al mismo tiempo.

  7. TRATAMIENTO • Recomendaciones para la escuela • Fomentar la prevención: uso del peine fino. • Todos los alumnos parasitados deben ser tratados simultáneamente. • Sería recomendable que cuando un alumno esté parasitado no asista a la escuela hasta que no haga el tratamiento.
