Our Club • BGSC was formed in the 1991/92 season as a group of parents and coaches interested in promoting girls soccer • Our club strives to offer a full program including Micro, Mini and Super 8 soccer, and at the divisional level – Metro, Gold, Silver and Bronze teams.     • BGSC Motto A Place for Every Girl to Play

Our Club • The BGSC Executive team consisting of volunteer parents  • Paid positions Technical Coaches, Field Administrator, Bookkeeper and Referee Coordinator •  BGSC's long term goal is to provide a club for female soccer players in Burnaby to progress from 5 years old through to 18 years old and them continue to play at the U21 and Women levels • We have had former players return to coach at BGSC and soon hope to have their children start to play in our club

  7. Levels of Play • Metro (U14 – U18) (soon to be U13??) • Gold (U13 – U18) • Silver (U13 – U18) • Bronze (U13 – U18) • Select (U11 & U12) • House (U11 & U12) • Mini (U8 – U10) • Micro (U6 & U7)

  8. Coaching – Criminal Check • Please complete criminal record checks and return them to your Age Group Coordinator. • NEED TO BE COMPLETED PRIOR TO YOU GETTING PLAYER CARDS. • BGSC requires all volunteers to get a Police Criminal Check every year. BC Soccer Every Year??? • Print the letter and take it with you to the Police station - there should be not cost if you do this.

Player/Coach Cards • Required for U13 to U18 teams (U11&U12 need staff) • All players and up to 4 coaching staff • Please take digital photos of all your players and coaching staff • Our club makes new cards every year so the pictures are current • Rename the pictures with the person’s name • Email them to our Registrar with your team name, level and age group • CSA one member needs to be of the same gender.

  12. Pre-Game Information • Check your email regularly as well as the club website • With the poor weather, game locations and times change often. When do we cancel a game??? • For home games, call your opposing coach no later the Thursday night and ensure they have the correct game time and location • Help them with directions as needed • Our opponents are our guests and we could not have games without them – please be courteous • Grass to Grass rule

Playing Policy • BGSC Playing Policy for Divisional Teams is: Every girl gets to play half a game • Playing time can be restricted due to: • Player failing to attend practices during the week without notifying the coach in advance • Player arrives late to practices and games without notifying the coach in advance • Player behaves poorly during weekly practices

  15. BGSC Tournament • November 11, BLW, all 5 fields • New Format • U8 – U10 5 Aside • U11 – U15 7 Aside • U16 – U18 6 Aside • Across the field • We need volunteers

  16. Mark on the calendar • Club Pub night Saturday November 20th Friefighter’s Club. Club Photo days. Saturday Oct 16th 9:30 – 1PM Tuesday Oct 19th 6—8 PM

  17. Referees • We can not have games without officials • All BGSC Volunteers are expected to treat the game officials with courtesy especially the new, young refs! • Referee abuse will not be tolerated • Infractions are addressed by our club and the North District Discipline Committee • Discipline will result in suspensions from soccer • Coaches are responsible for the conduct of themselves, their players and their parents/fans

  18. Filing a Complaint • Please do not confront the referee at the field • Wait 24 hours then email our Referee Coordinator Sheryl Kwai – refs@burnabygirlssoccerclub.com • Referee reporting – should you run into a difficult referee, you can also report them via the North District Soccer Assn website http://www.northdistrictgirlssoccer.ca/Coaches • If you need advice, please contact your Age Group Coordinator , Vice President or President

  19. Fundraising • BGSC Fundraising Policy – we do not allow any of our teams to shake cans for cash in front of liquor stores • Fund raisers that have been successful include car washes, hot dog sales, pub nights, donut sales, plant sales • Sponsorship – some teams get sponsors to help fund team events • PLEASE, if you want to purchase team equipment open a team bank account. Speak to Sheryl regarding setting up an account.

  20. BGSC Equipment Game Day • If you the first game of the day, your team (home team) is responsible for putting up both nets and lining the field. • If you play the last BGSC game of the day please take down the equipment and lock away in storage container. • If you take equipment away from the field please contact Sue or Craig

  21. BGSC Uniforms • We’ve purchased new uniforms for all Divisional Teams & we will be looking at doing the Super 8’s next season • We’re running lower on numbers and sizes so please think about that before asking for an exchange. • We plan to sell our old uniforms over the next few Months. You can purchase a team set (for practices?) for $100 ($150 Whites). Or they cost $15 per uniform.

  23. Club Technical Program • Each divisional team will receive 3 free visits by a technical coach of their choice • Each U11 – U13 team will receive 3 team visits from Donn • Academy teams will receive twice the amount . • Donn will be attending games then will provide input • Mini’s Sandi….

  24. Technical Academy’s • Each Team U11 – U16 was asked to join our Team academy. Fridays 6-9 BLW # 1 • Indoor Player Academy U8-U16 Girls, Saturdays 2-4 at Canlan • Keeper Academy • Free Sessions U8 – U11 Tuesdays & Fridays • Paid Sessions U11-U18 Tuesdays & Fridays Please promote this training, make it an expectation.

  25. BGSC Uniform Policy • Club Uniform – no names, logos or sponsors brands can be placed on BGSC uniforms; these can be placed on team wear or bags • Teams can purchase uniforms to be used in tournaments and friendlies. • Failure to comply with this policy could result in the loss of field allotments
