What is Adaptive Physical Education? • The Adapted Physical Education National Standards (APENS) defines adapted physical education as the following… “Adapted Physical Education is physical education which has been adapted or modified, so that it is as appropriate for the person with a disability as it is for a person without a disability.”

  3. Goals • IDEA mandates that …students with disabilities should be educated alongside students without disabilities whenever possible. • Our goal is to provide students with special needs the opportunity to meet the goals and standards of the Physical Education program.

Adapted Physical Education Assessment Scale II (APEAS II) • Online database that stores students assessments. • Can measure, evaluation & monitor students motor performance & adaptive behaviors. • Assist in developing IEP goals. BOOM’R Beeper Ball • A battery operated foam ball that beeps when the ball is thrown, bounced, and or kicked. • The high pitched beeping sound will enable our visually impaired students an opportunity to locate the ball. • Provides auditory clues for children with limited vision. • Assist with students coordination and rhythm.
