  2. Strategic Benefits Dorset councils, Government and BT are investing almost £32M in superfast broadband to drive economic growth. Other benefits include: helping to transform public services contributing to digital inclusion, and bringing new opportunities to individuals and communities across Dorset.

  3. Across the whole of Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole, the project will help to provide: 95% of premises with access to superfast broadband (>24Mbps) 100% of premises with access to at least 2Mbps a transformational change to 78,500 premises

  6. Ferndown exchange: Phases 1& later Ferndown Phase 1 • around 200 businesses • Announcement February 2014; services will be available from end June Later phases • around 100 businesses • Different technologies • Announcement later in 2014

  7. Plans will change due to survey results eg: • securing wayleaves and difficulties over positioning new cabinet • power supply availability for exchanges and new cabinets • length of spine cable and blocked ducts may require out of hours working, road closures and embargos

  8. Open access Range of Communications Providers and Retail Service Providers Focus on driving take-up Competition & innovation Prices from £15 pcm

  9. Business fibre/superfast costs vary • ‘Favourite’ with at least 16Mbps download - £30-£35/month for 24 month contract • ‘Cheapest’ (‘best fibre for SMEs’) - £20.99/month • ‘Faster’ (up to 76Mbps) - £49.95/month • ‘Fast, cheap, reliable’ - £15-25/month (6 months half price, so £7.50-12.50/month)
