  2. 2/24/14 • B-Day students are testing on the Constitution • After the test, turn test into the orange bin. Pick up the Achieve 3000 score tracker to the left of the orange bin and begin Achieve 3000 work. • Login: Lunch # • Password: Lunch #

  3. Warm-up for 2/25 and 2/26 • Log-on to Edmodo.com and take the Presidents Pre-test quiz. It is five questions in length. • Write down your homework: • Achieve 3000 • Progress Reports • Missing Work

  4. Today we will….. • Complete our Notebook Check to check our organizational skills and see what we need to change • Make test corrections on our “Constitution Post Test” • Identify key vocabulary terms for our Presidential Unit using quizlet.com

  5. Notebook Check • Staple together the following pages for your notebook check: • Overview of the U.S. Constitution • Preamble and the Articles of the Constitution • Cases of the Supreme Ct (Learn or Die) • Amendment Questions • I will be by to check on these four sheets as you make test corrections on a separate sheet of paper. You have 45mins. to complete corrections.

  6. When you are done with your corrections, turn the test and corrections into the bin. Then focus on Key Vocabulary Terms • Log-on to quizlet.com • Complete the vocabulary learn, practice, and games tabs for “Political Terms.” • We will take a vocabulary quiz on quizlet.com on Friday. If you take it before Friday, tell me your score. • DO Achieve 3000 after.

  7. Warm-up for 2/27 and 2/28 • Turn to pages 278 of your textbook. • Flip through Chapter 8 of the textbook and name at least 3 things that we will learn about in our New Unit: Launching a New Nation. • Turn Achieve 3000 into orange bin.

  8. Today we will • Develop positive communication skill, research skills, and organizational skills through a group project on the Presidents. • Identify Key Vocabulary on Political terms using Quizlet.com • Expand our reading and writing skills, using Achieve 3000 and President Project.

  9. Project Presidents • We will be researching the first 6 Presidents (Washington, John Adams, Jefferson, Madison, Monroe, and John Quincy Adams) is groups of 4 to 5 people. Next week, you will be presenting this with your group to the class. • You have an outline of your project which will be due at the end of our next class. You will need to work on this outside of school as well. Use Google Drive to show me your work.

  10. Directions • Using the links that I have provided for you on your outline sheet, you will answer the outline questions to assist you with what you will need to teach the class. If you find more information, add it on to score a 4 is several categories.

  11. Groups have been picked already for you, and are non-negotiable.

  12. Group Expectations-*Remember you will be grading your partners* • Work together respectfully to complete the project by the due date. • Review the assignment and note the goals for the project. • Collectively create a plan for accomplishing the goals. • Divide tasks fairly and evenly among members. • Use a rubric to monitor progress on the project. • Assist one another in producing a cohesive presentation. • Meet or exceed the requirements of the assignment.

Group Expectations * Remember you will be grading each other on these expectations* • Show respect for all other group members, for the project, and for the materials. • Actively contribute during group discussions. • Take on a substantial part of the overall project. • Communicate with and collaborate with other group members. • Solve problems that arise, keeping the goals of the project in mind. • Resolve conflicts in constructive ways. • Participate substantially in the presentation of the project.

  14. A- day students you will begin presentations in Presidential Order on Friday, 3/7. B-day students you will being presentations in Presidential Order on Monday, 3/9.

  15. Warm-ups for 3/3 and 3/4 and 3/5 • Turn to pages 288 and 289 in our textbook. Answer the “Analyze” question on page 289 in a 3-4 sentence paragraph. • Homework: • Achieve 3000 Readings due Friday: “School All Year Long,” and “Use your Voice.” • Project Presidents final project due on Tuesday (A-day) and Monday (B-day). Presentations will be on those days in sequential order.

Adams in desk area. • Remember! Use 5 inch voices, do not talk or wander to other groups, work with our group members even if others are absent, you have Google Docs.

  19. Today we are….. • Develop research and citation skills • Continue to expand our positive communication skills. • Collaborate on the final presentation for our project • Enhance our reading and writing skills with Achieve 3000 the last 45mins of class.

  20. Achieve 3000 • Students on A-day will improve and enhance their reading and writing skills using Achieve 3000. They will have 45minutes in class to do their assigned readings in Science and Social Studies. • Need to do “Saving Iraq’s Marshes”, and“School All Year Long.”

  29. Achieve 3000- After the Pre-test • For the 1st 45 minutes of class, students are completing readings assigned to them in Achieve 3000- “Westward Expansion”, and “Words by Wire.” Both are in your Mailbox. • If you complete these readings, select an article of your choice to complete.

  38. The Age of Jackson!!! • With your group, you will use the text book to complete “The Age of Jackson.” This is page 16 of your notebook in the Class-work section. Use Chapter 10, pages 349-365.

  39. Warm- up for 3/21 and 3/24 • Do you think of Andrew Jackson as a Hero or a Villain? Why or why not? • Write down your homework to be signed. • Achieve: “US Wont Recognize Tribe” will be started in class and needs to be finished by the end of the day.

  43. Warm-up 3/25 and 3/26 • What does the phrase “from sea to shining sea” mean? • What was the first territory that the United States gained? Think back to Jefferson. • Homework: • Getting the Main Idea- Expansion • The Rush for Riches- Achieve • Test Thursday. Review Tuesday • Missing Work • Progress Reports Due Friday.

  44. Getting the Main Idea • Expansion- Pick any 3 paragraphs below… on the back of the page write the main idea of the paragraph down…include Key Words. We will go over this as a class in 12 minutes.

  45. Achieve 3000 • Complete the reading “The Rush for Riches” on Achieve 3000. It is in your mailbox. Be sure to complete the Thought Question Activity in order to get full points. Take your time to answer fully.
