The unit selected the M825 WP munitions to flush the enemy out enabling the FO to adjust HE rounds onto the enemy. The munitions fell short and landed in a farm killing cows and goats. This incident created a serious IO problem in an area in which trust in coalition forces was already threadbare. TF Mountain Warrior had previously identified this problem and sent an ONS and request to Ft. Sill to provide HC Smoke for commanders to use without the negative consequences of WP. TF Mountain Warrior was able to perform an assortment of smoke missions in populated areas reserving WP smoke for material destruction missions in unpopulated districts. Vignette – TLE – Elevation Altitude errantly called 1320, actually 933 causing 4 105mm HE/VT RDS to travel 400m long of intended location impacting in a neutral village setting back efforts to tip them to support ISAF vs. enemy elements
