  1. AP Test Prep: - Three essays - DBQ - Comparative - Continuity & Change Over Time (CCOT) - 70 Multiple Choice - Based on thematic knowledge - 6 major divisions in history

DBQ - Requirements: - Must have a definitive thesis that addresses all parts of the prompt - Underline all important parts of the prompt - Address or use ALL of the documents - AP allows for one misinterpretation - Restating/quoting verbatim does NOT count as addressing the document - Understanding can be achieved w/appropriate grouping

  3. DBQ - Requirements: - Support thesis w/document evidence - 2 Points - Specific /accurate evidence explicitly drawn from all documents - 1 Point - Specific/accurate evidence explicitly drawn from majority of documents - Simply listing a document will not count

  4. DBQ - Requirements: - Point of View (POV) - Correctly analyze the POV in at least one doc - Explain why they have this POV - Explain the tone, characteristics of author, intended audience, how outcome influenced the author - Challenge the veracity of the author’s opinion through plausible analysis - Mere attribution is not sufficient

  5. DBQ - Requirements: - Grouping - Explicitly and correctly group the documents in three ways - Minimum of 2 documents constitutes a group - Groupings must address the prompt/thesis - There is no invalid group if it is justified with document evidence and addresses the thesis

DBQ - Requirements: - Additional Documentation - Indentify an appropriate additional doc - This is a group or people traditionally under-represented in history - Must explain how this document or source will contribute to a greater understanding or analysis of the issue presented in the prompt

DBQ - Requirements: - Expanded Core - Provide additional causes & consequences - Consistent comparative analysis throughout - Thesis well beyond the minimum - Careful and insightful analysis of documents - Uses documents persuasively as evidence - Analyzes POV in most or all doc - More than three groups - Accurate/relevant “outside” historical info

CCOT - Requirements: - Thesis - Must address a continuity and change - If thesis is restated/repeated in conclusion it may count for other credit - An acceptable thesis that qualifies change and continuity may also contain inaccuracies - Merely restating the prompt won’t count - May not split thesis into multiple paragraphs - May not count for credit in any other area

CCOT - Requirements: - Address ALL parts of the question - For 2 points - Address both a change & continuity relative to the prompt and thesis - For 1 point - Accurately address either a change or continuity relevant to the prompt or thesis - May not be taken from the thesis unless the thesis is repeated at the end of the essay

  11. CCOT - Requirements: - Substantiates thesis with historical evidence - For 2 points - Provides a minimum of five pieces of accurate evidence - For 1 point - Provides a minimum of three pieces of accurate evidence

CCOT - Requirements: - Relevant world historic context to effectively explain continuity and change over time - Essay relates change or continuity of prompt within a larger global process of effect - Essay accurately relates changes or continuities between two specified regions to developments beyond these regions

  13. CCOT - Requirements: - Analyzes the process of continuity and/or change over time - Analyzes the causes of either change or continuity related to the prompt within the appropriate time period - Analysis must be more than a discrete statement of evidence

CCOT - Expanded Core: - Clear, analytical, and comprehensive thesis - Analyzes all issues of the prompt/question - Balance in discussion of change & continuity - Ample historical evidence - Understands and provides clear evidence of global impacts as presented in the prompt - Provides a clear chronology of change
