  1. Keller was born at an estate called Ivy Green, on June 27, 1880, to parents Captain Arthur H. Keller and Kate Adams Keller. She was not born blind and deaf, but was actually a typical, healthy infant. It was not until nineteen months later that an illness destroy her sight and hearing and made her become blind, deaf and mute, and later a spoiled child.   2. Anne Sullivan finger spelling into Helen Keller's hand • Helen Keller's new life began on a March day in 1887 when she was a few months short of seven years old. On that day, which she always called "The most important day I can remember in my life," Anne Mansfield Sullivan came to be her teacher. From that fateful day, the two—teacher and pupil—were inseparable until the death of the former in 1936.

  4. Annie Sullivan was born on April 14th, 1866, to Irish parents. She had to live in the poorhouse. While she was there, the illness that had been in her eyes since she was three caused her to become blind. On March third, 1887, Annie Sullivan met Helen Keller for the first time, she was to be her governess. Helen Keller had also become blind, but she was also deaf and mute. Annie helped Helen talk, read, write and feel things. Annie made Helen happy and helped her to have a good life. In 1900, Annie helped Helen get into college and Helen graduated in 1904. On October 19th, 1936, Annie Sullivan passed away, leaving Helen Keller by herself. Annie Sullivan is remembered for the good things she did for Helen Keller and her family. With the help of Anne Sullivan, who spelled the lectures into her hand, Helen Keller graduated in 1904. She was the first deaf-blind person to receive a college degree.

  8. Helen Keller died on June 1, 1968, a few weeks short of her 88th birthday. Her ashes were placed next to her beloved companions, Anne Sullivan and Polly Thomson, in the St. Joseph's Chapel of Washington Cathedral. • Miss Keller in Stockholm, Sweden at The Manilla School for the Deaf.
