Ca Dept of Ed • Teacher-led education that takes place over the Internet, with the teacher and student separated geographically • Online education can be fully online (either synchronous or asynchronous) or blended (online instruction combined with classroom-based instruction). Online Learning Program iNacol An online learning program is an organized offering of courses delivered primarily over the Internet.

Is this blended or online teaching and learning? • Teacher has a computer and uses it for email and doing attendance at school, but no other uses • Teacher posts assignments online and students turn in their work via an online dropbox (in a system like Moodle or Blackboard) • Students watch videos online from home that helps them complete a homework assignment • Teacher uses a digital white board and clickers for a lesson • Teacher has different student groups use the 6 computers in the back of the room each day on a math program that helps their math skills.  The math program individualizes so that each student is working on content at their level.
