  2. What is Poetry Performance? • Poetry performance is a method of learning which uses theatrical techniques to enhance the study of poetry. Using poems as scripts and working together, students will read, discuss, direct, and dramatize poetry.

  3. Four Useful Performance Points • Use Your Confident Stance (Stand Up Straight) • Face Your Audience • Fill Your Space • Project Your Voice (Use Your Outside Voice)

Five Steps of Poem Presentation • Arrangement of Stage Area • Set up props • Introduction • Confident Stance • Pause • Announce Poem and Poet • Pause • Performance • Perform the Poem • Pause (wait for applause) • Closing • Confident Stance • Group bow • Clearing of Stage Area • Move chairs back to starting position and exit stage
