The Inca Civilization, founded by Pacachuti in the Andes, flourished from 1200 to 1532 AD. Its capital, Cuzco, was an administrative center adorned with gold and impressive stone structures, including the renowned Machu Picchu, the "Lost City of the Incas." Governed by the Sapa Inca, who held absolute power, the society emphasized communal living in ayllus and advanced agriculture through terraced farming. The Incas were polytheistic, worshipping Inti, the Sun God, and engaging in festivals. The empire fell to Spanish conquest, marked by the death of Huayna Capac and the spread of disease.
