  2. Basic Information • Juan de Arellano was born in August 3rd 1614 and died in October 13th 1676. • He was a Spanish painter who painted still life paintings. Especially floral ones. • He was educated by Juan de Solis. • He lived in Santorcaz near Madrid. In seventeenth century Spain.

  3. Accomplishments • First he was inspired by the Antwerp flower painters, later by Italians. • Arellano began to paint flowers only in his thirties . When asked why he devoted himself to flowers, he replied that it was because with them he worked less and earned more. In second period, his works became more personal because he was reflected by the great knowledge he gained in his field.

  4. Quality • Seeing his paintings, he usually painted flowers in a basket. • For materials, he usually used oil on canvas. • The paintings are beautifully presented and very colorful. • He painted bright paintings.

  5. Interesting Facts He was a famous painter in Spain. • He also painted for the sacristy of the church of San Jeronimo de Madrid. • Some of his most famous pieces include Bouquet of Flowers and Garland of Flowers, Birds and Butterfly.

  6. Conclusion • He died in October 13th 1676. • He died in Santorcaz. He was a pupil of Juan de Solis. • Drew lots of beautiful floral paintings.
