  1. Sentence Structure • CCSS.ELa-Literacy.L.K.1.F • CCSS.ELA-Literacy.L.K.2 • CCSS.ElA-Lieracy.L.K.2.D • NETS #6: Technology operational concepts In this lesson we are going to learn how to make a proper sentence.

  2. Nouns (n.) • A noun is a word in a sentence that identifies a person, place or thing or ideas. • EX: • Joeis coloring under the table. • The book is on top of the self. • The zoo is across the street. • Love is just around the bend. • The word in black are the nouns in each sentence. • Joe- person • Book- thing • Zoo- place • Love- Idea

  3. Verb (v.) • A verb is a word to describe an action or state of place. • Ex: • Joeiscoloring under the table. • The bookison top of the self. • The zoois across the street. • Loveisjust around the bend. • The words in black are the verbs of the sentence the say the state that the noun.

  5. Prepositional Phrase • A prepositional phrase (pp.) is the phrase that follows the preposition. • Each phrase will contain a Direct Object (d.o.) • I saw the cow fly over the moon. ^ ^ Is the Is the object preposition of the preposition

  6. Punctuation • Punctuation is used to separate ideas or sentences. • Ex: • Period (.) is used in an imperative and declarative sentences. • I told you to clean your room. (Declarative) • I sat down at the desk and waited. (Imperative) • Exclamation points (!) are used in a exclamatory sentence. • Yikes! You scared me. • Question marks are used in interrogative sentences. • Did mark get a sticker?

  8. In conclusion • Now that we have learned how a sentence works, with a noun, verb, prepositional phrase, and adjective and adverb, we will do an activity as a class.
