  2. “The Carnival of Quebec” Le Carnaval de Québec • The Carnival is in the month of February every year. • There are ice canoe races, dances, and ice sculpting contests. • Le Palais de glace is a 60 foot ice palace made of ice blocks cemented together with water.

  3. “The Carnival of Quebec” Le Carnaval de Québec • In the carnival, there is a mascot called Le Bonhomme Carnaval. • Le Bonhomme Carnaval is a snowman with a red hat and sash. • The snowman crowns the carnival queen, rides in parades, and can “arrest” anyone not showing the proper amount of spirit.

  4. “The History of Canada” L’Histoire du Canada • Eastern Canada was first settled by French settlers in the 1500s and 1600s. • In the mid-1700s, France and England went to war, and when England won, it got most of France’s overseas territories, including Canada.   6. Canada’s French VS Standard French • Pronounciation and expressions are different. • There are different meanings for the same word. • Plein(e) in Quebec means full of food whereas in France it means pregnant!
