This panel discussion gathers local government leaders to explore the effectiveness of MPA programs in preparing graduates for public service. Participants will share their experiences with current MPA graduates, outline expectations for future cohorts, and identify critical competencies needed over the next five years. Building on findings from the 2006 NASPAA/ICMA and 2009 NASPAA Standards surveys, the panel emphasizes the importance of both technical skills and essential soft skills like ethics, communication, and leadership in empowering future public administrators.
