  2. Project: IEEE P802.15 Working Group for Wireless Personal Area Networks (WPANs) Submission Title:[Evaluation methodology and simulation scenarios] Date Submitted: [16 , Sep 2013] Source:[Takashi Yamamoto] Company [Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd] Address [1-1-3, Shimaya, Konohana-ku, Osaka, 554-0024 Japan] Voice:[+81-06-6466-5695], FAX: [+81-06-6462-4586], E-Mail:[yamamoto-takashi@sei.co.jp] Re:[In response to call for pre-proposals for potential SRU Study Group] Abstract:[The proceedings to identify evaluation methodology and simulation scenarios are proposed.] Purpose:[For the SG and future work] Notice: This document has been prepared to assist the IEEE P802.15. 3. Current Status • SG-SRU puts effort into improving utilization of spectrum resources, especially focusing on RRMM mechanisms. • Use case examples: hospital, industrial automation, infrastructure monitoring • SRU should clarify the motivation for working on RRMM. • Clarify what metrics to use • Assess feasibility • Quantify gains over legacy features Takashi Yamamoto, Sumitomo Electric Industries

  4. Proposal of the proceedings • Utilize simulation to clarify the motivation • Quantify the performance of legacy features and capture the key characteristics of the use cases • Analyze new RRMM features shown in [1] • Timeline • Identify the simulation scenarios in SG phase • Evaluate the legacy and new features in TG phase • TG can discuss the optimization of simulation scenarios as necessary. Takashi Yamamoto, Sumitomo Electric Industries

  5. Example of simulation scenarios • Let’s start designing simulation scenarios in the following manner! use case: industrial automation 2km Building IEEE802.15.4 STA (Wireless Sensor/Actuator) IEEE802.15.4 AP There are thousands of wireless sensors and actuators. Radio communication range is more than 500min case of LOS. APs are connected in backhaul network. Backhaul network uses wired or IEEE802.11. 2km Takashi Yamamoto, Sumitomo Electric Industries

  6. Example of simulation scenarios(cont’d) Channel model for RRMM simulation may be able to simpler than that for PHY standardization. Takashi Yamamoto, Sumitomo Electric Industries

  7. Strawpoll • Do you agree that SG SRU investigates the following items through the simulation work? • M2M Use Case, Application • Requirement (number of wireless nodes, communication range, throughput, etc.) • Network and Software Architecture Yes - No - Abstain - Takashi Yamamoto, Sumitomo Electric Industries
