  1. Independent Novel Project Goal: I will be able to show my comprehension of a Self selected piece of Literature by examining the text and creating finished products.

  2. Requirements • Reviewing the 100 Points Project for the Novel and determining how I want to achieve my Grade by choosing from the various activities. • Completing assignments by the due date. All activities are due Jan 8, 2013. 10 bonus points will be awarded to those who turn in assignments by December 20, 2013! • Individual conference with the Teacher to assess progress and to answer questions.

  3. Examples of Activities Your Novel Project is worth 100 Points to your grade. How you get those 100 points is going to be up to you. Below you will find different tasks to complete relating to your novel. Each task is assigned a starting point value. If you do the task and do it well you can earn those points. If you do the task, but do not put all your effort into it you may not earn all of the points assigned to that task. The goal is to complete enough tasks to earn 100 points and an A+ grade.

  4. Possible Activities New Story SoundTrack Comic Strip Create a News Show about the novel. Your newscast must be at least 3 minutes long and include information about the novel. Create a SOUNDTRACK that illustrates the book’s main plot, setting, theme, and / or characters. Choose FIVE songs that could serve as an appropriate soundtrack for the book. Create a comic-strip version of the book. Your comic strip should have at least six blocks and must include dialogue. Make sure to represent the main events of the plot.

  5. Possible Activities Poem Diary Children’s Book Write a poem in reaction to one of the characters, events, settings, or themes of the book. Your poem may be in any form but should have at least 20 lines. Pretend you are a character from the story and write a diary for the character explaining the events of the story as seen from their point of view. Transform your book’s plot into a children’s illustrated book. Use appropriate vocabulary and images to represent the main plot of your book.
