Your family may not be together when disaster strikes. In this guide, we provide essential steps to create a family emergency plan. Start by discussing the importance of preparation and the dangers posed by fires, severe weather, and earthquakes. Designate two meeting places, an out-of-city contact, and ensure that every family member knows important phone numbers. Discuss evacuation procedures and plan for the care of pets. Simple preparation can make a significant difference. For more detailed information, visit the Department of Homeland Security or the American Red Cross.
