  2. About the person (introduction) • My uncle Ian Goerge Jennings is my dad ‘s friend ,who was born in England and had to move to different countries.

  3. Birth and Education • He was born on 3rd of March in1946 in Leeds in England. • He was the second child in his family and he grew up happily with his brother. • When he was 5 he started primary school in Leeds. But their parents moved from Leeds to Darlington so the secondary schooling was at Lady Lumley’s school in Pickering in North Yorkshire • Then he started his higher education in University of Portsmouth for his first degree ,and went to the University of London for his master’s degree in Architecture. • Later he found a job ,but he was not satisfied because he wanted to earn more money by getting a higher position and experiencing new .At that time there were no projects in the U.K .In 1974 he decided to migrate.

  4. Migration • Ian moved from the U.K to Nigeria in 1974 and travelled to several other countries including Dubai, Iraq and Kuwait but ended up in Sri Lanka in 1993. • He migrated for employment as Resident Architect and later as Project Manager .

  5. MIGRATION CONTINUE……… • Then he moved to another project in another country when the project working was completed .He worked on the construction of big buildings, and finally he returned to Sri Lanka .It was a better opportunity but the challenge was a new project assumedly larger than the previous projects ,ending with the 39 stories Twin Tower World Trade Centre in Colombo. • s

  6. The return • His life changed when he came to Sri Lanka ,because Sri Lanka was much better than he expected. The climate is warm and sunny and the people were very friendly so he decided to stay here for ever. • There were many problems, like finding schools for the children and getting used to power and water cuts and finding out where the shops were ,but every body was so helpful. The hardest thing in moving to a new country is leaving one’s friends and family behind but the challenge is making new friends. • Now he has a better life in Sri Lanka because he built his own home with a swimming pool ,and has very dedicated friends who assist him in all his life.
