How Employment Changes over time LO: To know how employment structures can change over time and to understand why this happens and how it could happen in the future All will be able to use a graph to describe how employment sectors change over time Most will be able to suggest why changes in employment happen and how this affects people Some will be able to suggest how employment will change in the future and why

  3. Key stages in the timeline 1 2 3 1) Primary predominant 2) Primary falls as more secondary and tertiary 3)Primary low, tertiary main sector now includes quaternary Describe how employment changes as a country becomes more industrialised

Copy down the following causes of change in employment structure Key changes to employment • Movement away from people and more towards technology – Online film rentals • Outsourcing: When a company contracts out its work to another company. Usually when they can save money or utilises certain skills e.g. Many British companies use Indian call centres

  5. 3. Look at the statements you have been given. Which point and line do you think they are describing? Note down their number at the correct point 1. In a class survey Sarah finds that nearly 70% of her classmates’ parents work in the tertiary sector

  6. 3. Employment structure - The future Pick three of the possible changes below and for each one draw a flow diagram that shows the effect they would have on employees, education, environment, society etc.
