  6. Carbon monoxide 1) Likelihood of a CO leak • Presence of kerosene heaters • Age and condition of gas-burning appliances • Are appliances properly vented? 2) Warning system

Installation and Repairs • Installed fire extinguishers and Smoke and CO alarms in 118 homes (thanks to Children’s Hospital TRIP program for the Smoke and CO alarms) • Fire Repairs • Electrical repairs in two homes with serious electrical hazards • Plaster repair to reduce spread of fire • Replaced windows where 2nd floor bedroom windows did not open • CO Repairs • Helped 6 families with furnaces with cracked heat exchangers get furnace repairs or replacements (thanks to DTE/ ICF for the furnace replacements) • Stove replacement for one family

  8. Fire and CO Success Stories • Alerted families to CO in 4 homes through assessment and CO detectors • Prevented attic fire during visual assessment • Fire prevented through smoke detectors and fire extinguisher
