  1. How to complete your GT Project:An introduction A presentation by Miss Tamez

  2. What is this project? This project is basically a museum exhibit that you will be creating and presenting to the class (kind of like show-and-tell)

  3. Who is the project about? The project is about a person or group of people in history.

  4. Why do I have to do this project? • In high school you will be expected to know how to conduct research, therefore, the more experience you get, the better. • Projects are sent to Austin, Texas to be graded. Some projects will be selected to represent my group of students. • If you can handle and be disciplined enough to complete this project, I know I can trust you with activities and events that require more independence and maturity.

  5. Who will I do my project on? I will have a list of people(s) you can choose from. List will be posted online and in the classroom so you can view it at any time.

  6. What will I need for this project? • BYOD (optional) • Computer/Internet access (for online sources) • A pin drive OR access to your school email account • Paper (some students prefer note cards) • A highlighter (for important information) • You will need to know how to use the library databases • You will need to have the packet of handouts for the project

  7. Where do I get the packet with all the handouts I will need for this project? The forms for the project will be available online as well as in the classroom at the back table.

  8. How many forms should I have? • Parent notification • Topic submission slip • Research Proposal • Primary Sources • Secondary Sources • Bibliography Example • How to distinguish sources handout • Cover Sheet • Manila- colored folder (where you will keep all forms)

  9. How can I get help if I am having trouble? I will schedule at least 3 tutoring sessions during the 6 weeks specifically to help students working on their project (although students are welcome ANY day I have tutoring). Project tutoring sessions will be announced on the tutoring board in class….so keep an eye out!

  10. Now that you have an idea of what this project is about, pick up your GT project packet and watch the online tutorials (on my website) that give you a step-by-step guide and tips!
