  2. PARKING FOR LECTURES Members are reminded that there is NO PARKING at the University for the Wednesday afternoon lectures. The only exception is for people with a blue disabled badge who may park in a disabled parking bay (if none is available, use a normal parking spot but display an explanatory notice). Please: NEVER PARK ILLEGALLY e.g. on double yellow lines.

  8. Cycling Leisurely Third cycle ride: Monday 15th July, 2013. We will meet at the Woodman car park on Mumbles Road at 10am. Load up bikes into Michael’s van or onto cycle racks to go to the Pontrhydyfen. From there we will head up the valley for a short ride to our coffee stop at Afan Argoed before setting off up a very gentle incline to Cymmer and then on to Glyncorrwg for lunch. After lunch we will be returning, gently downhill, on the other side of the valley. The ride distance will be 14 miles and most of the ride will be on tarmac paths. See website for more details.   10. Car Free Walking Group NEW GROUP We are starting a car-free walking group for members who do not drive or who are recovering from illness that prevents them from driving for a time. Walks would be planned so that they are accessible by public transport both in respect of location and time of day. Also if there is an interest within the group and ability to shoulder some cost, walks accessed by a shared taxi service could be included. The primary aim would be to enable members to enjoy the outings so walks would be within the easy range and conducted in a leisurely co-operative fashion. During the winter locations could be planned that include some interesting indoor venues.   13. PAINTING for PLEASURE Summer Project: Gower Churches. An exhibition of the paintings of Gower Churches by the Painting for Pleasure Group can be seen at the Gower Show on Sunday 4th August, 2013.

  14. South Wales and Severnside Geology Network PENWYLLT, SWANSEA VALLEY. Monday 1st July,  2013 at 10. 30am Leader:  Dr.  Tony Ramsay. This field trip is a circular walk of 6 kilometres, on not too difficult terrain, looking at the stratigraphical evidence for climate change in the Carboniferous Limestone sediments and the overlying Millstone Grit sandstone. In addition to the geology there are many interesting karst and glacial landscape features as well as the extensive industrial archaeology with its brickworks, lime kilns and tramways. We meet at the car park at Penwyllt near the Cave Rescue Centre.. Grid ref:  O. S. Sheet no 160    SN 856 155 To  get there turn right off the A 4067  Abercraf  -  Sennybridge  road , approximately 1/2  a mile  north of Penycae signposted  Penwyllt.. The meeting place is approximately 1 1/2 miles northwards at the end of this road. Please bring good walking boots, waterproof clothing and a picnic lunch.
