UCR Graduate Studies Outline • Academic Senate Comprised of ALL ladder faculty at UCR • Graduate Council A committee within the Academic Senate Responsible for Graduate Studies campus-wide • Graduate Dean Head of Graduate Division, enforces Graduate Council regulations • Graduate Academic Affairs Section within the Graduate Division, responsible for all enrolled students • Graduate Advisor Faculty member in academicdepartment assigned to assist all grad students • Faculty Advisor/Major Professor/PI Faculty member in academic dept. you are working with (aka “your boss”) • Graduate Program Coordinator Staff member in academicdepartment assigned to graduate students

Advice for all Graduate Students • Check your R’Mail…OFTEN - UCR email address is official campus correspondence, check it or forward to your personal address • Take an Active Role in Your Own Registration Registration = Enrollment and Payment • Be Aware of Holds and Follow Up with the Appropriate Department • Pay Attention to Campus Deadlines • Know Your Program – Review General Catalog, Department Website and Department Handbook/Protocols

  10. Campus Resources for Graduate Students • iLearn (Blackboard) UCR Graduate Community Course - announcements of interest to graduate students. All new students will be enrolled after Week 3 of the quarter. • Library – workshops, scholarly resources, and electronic journals. • Registrar’s Office - schedule of classes including important dates, general catalog, residency information and fee payment deadlines. • GROWL – review holds, grades, charges, enroll, change address, direct deposit, order transcripts, etc…. • Student Business Services – billing issues • Office of the Ombuds – confidential conflict resolution
