  3. The Executive branch • The executive branch is the Monarch • The Monarch is chosen by the R.T.C. • The Monarch finds people to fill government positions • The Monarch has some power over defense • The Monarch today is King Norodom King Norodom Sihanouk -

Legislative and Judicial branches • The legislative branch of Government • The Legislative branch is the Senate, Parliament and National Assembly • The National Assembly, five year term • the Senate, five year term • 59 senate members elected by N.A. • three people elected by the Monarch • The Judicial branch of Government • the Judicial branch is the constitutional council • Nine members • each member holds a nine year term • three appointed by the Monarch • three appointed by the national assembly • three appointed by the supreme of Magistracy

  5. All about voting and constitutions • voting is not compulsory • the voting age in Cambodia is 18 • Elections are held every five years • there is a Cambodian Constitution • The Cambodian Constitution can be changed • The Constitution was last changed in 2008

  6. Cambodian War In the mid-1800s Cambodia was broken by Thai and Vietnamese invaders and sought out protection from France. France ruled Cambodia for seven decades. The Emblems for Thailand and Vietnam are to show the countries that attacked Cambodia, The Emblem of French Republic is to show that France gave their protection to Cambodia. Conclusion • Cambodia has had a history of war and unstable government • Years of war left many Cambodian orphans and widows • poor infrastructure and job skills. • By reinstating the Monarchy it is hoped that Cambodia can prosper once more. • Life conditions in Cambodia have improved since the war but are still not perfect
